Magento Statistics after Analyzing 88,302 Magento Stores

As you know I work in Magento hosting space. We built a Magento hosting SaaS from where you can manage your entire Magento infrastructure.

While doing marketing research, I found a way to analyze Magento stores at large scale.

So, I analyzed 88,302 Magento stores.

Here are some Magento statistics:

• 40.94 % of Magento stores are loading slow, taking more than 3 seconds to open.
• 2.16 % of Magento stores are still running on old technology.
• 5.84 % of Magento stores are not mobile-friendly.
• 15.70 % of Magento stores have not installed Google analytics.
• 15.78 % of Magento stores do not have meta descriptions for the homepage.
• 7.57 % of Magento stores use fonts too little for mobile.
• 15. 75 % of Magento stores are still on HTTP.
• 57.41 % of Magento stores have invalid canonical.
• 0.32 % of Magento stores have invalid hreflang.
• 43.88 % of Magento stores do not have a Facebook page associated with their store.
• 58.76 % of Magento stores do not have an Instagram account associated with their store.
• 51.37 % of Magento stores’ code is not minified properly.
• 7.10 % of Magento stores are not redirecting their HTTP pages to HTTPS despite having SSL.
• 22.36 % of Magento stores have no robot.txt files.
• 8.97 % of Magento stores do not have SSL installed.
• 69.94 % of Magento stores are not using CDN to deliver content.
• 4.61 % of Magento stores are not crawlable.
• 45.69 % of Magento stores are using .com TLD.

My Research Process

I used Soleadify Data. You can find all the numbers in this Google sheet.

Soleadify is data extraction software. I used the technology filter to pull Magento stores. Then I used the other filter with AND tag to find the number of stores with certain configurations.

For example:

All Magento stores with this filter.

Then I used the TLD filter to find the TLD .com AND Magento stores.

I did it with various filters and entered the data into the sheet. Did some calculations.
